Beautiful Insights on Life and Death from the Animals

picalttag

'Tell Me Where It Hurts' by Nick Trout. This book was amazing! I laughed, I cried, but mostly some of the tales of profound love between humans and animals, gave me chills. Dr. Nick Trout is the vet you wish you had, calling your pet "Cute Thing You.." and working with skill and compassion to keep your animal friend happy and healthy. In the book Dr. Trout condenses his 25 years of veterinary practice into a single very busy day, which starts at 2:47 a.m. with an emergency wake-up call. A 10-year-old German Shepherd with a life-threatening stomach problem requires emergency surgery. Even with a stomach about to burst, the old dog wags her tail when they meet. The book ends late at night, at 10:02 p.m., with this same old dog. What a journey in between.

'Animals in Spirit: Our Faithful Companion' by Penelope Smith. This eBook is a beautiful, heartfelt, and sensitive guide to animals' perspectives on the death and dying process, as well their experiences in the spiritual dimension after leaving the physical body. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who has loved and lost an animal. There is a wonderful exercise for helping people to connect with the spirits of their animal friends who have died, as well as a beautiful grief and memorial ritual contributed by animal communicator Barbara Janelle. My favorite passage in the book is at the very end, in a poetic inspiration that came through Penelope, which states, in part: "Flow with spirit, ever-changing in its guises. See the wildflowers bloom and die and give their seeds to the Earth. Nothing ever really dies or fades. Everything dissolves into unity and flows into another sea or shower or puff of air". Touches my heart as I type it now.

'Chosen By a Horse' by Susan Richards. This was a wonderful read. It takes me back to why I have horses and all the emotions of loving them. The interaction is so powerful with a horse. It is incredible. Susan described these so wonderfully. Books like this are much appreciated. It was a story filled with so much love. It is certainly a tearjerker; I sobbed my eyes out at the end but anyone who loves horses must read this eBook. This eBook shows people how to love again. Thanks for writing it. Very informative, easy to understand, and written with the person who needs a quick reference in mind! It's pretty informative and mentions a lot of different species of frogs/toads. These Two Books Are Very Special!!!!! Great Reads.

picalttag

'Rescuing Sprite' by Mark R. Levin. This book is just what the title says it's about...the joy and anguish of love. I read the entire book when I received it because I couldn't put it down, except of course to wake my 16 year old Kitty to hug and kiss her (no, she was not happy about that). I commend Mark for sharing so much of his personal life with us and anyone who listens to him KNOWS this is not what he does. This book, by a tough conservative talk show host, is as emotional a book as I have ever read. Anyone who has ever felt the loss of a pet will relate to the utter anguish that the author portrays in a sensitive, well-written way.

'The Last Season' by Eric Blehm. This eBook is an excellent story about one person's love for the Sierra and the special wilderness areas of the National Parks. Eric Blehm has told a page-turning story of an amazingly overlooked, dedicated backcountry wilderness ranger that takes place in some of the most amazing wilderness in the world. I finished it and I wanted more. Blehm gets it right in his depiction of the Sierra Nevada. You can almost taste the crisp morning air as the author describes the sensations of Kings Canyon and surrounding Sierras. This book is one for the library, to be read more than once just to get the feel of the mountains. Get the Coupon Code below to receive a Discount on either of these two eBook Titles.

Rescuing Sprite: A Dog Lover's Story of Joy and Anguish by Levin, Mark R.
Although Mark Levin is known as a constitutional lawyer and a nationally syndicated broadcaster, he is, first and foremost, a dog lover. In 1998, he and his family welcomed a half-Border Collie/half-Cocker Spaniel they named Pepsi into their lives. Six years later, his wife and son persuaded him to adopt a dog from the local shelter, a Spaniel mix. It turned out he was older than originally thought, and he was the most beautiful dog they'd ever seen.

Four Legs Are Better Than Two

picalttag

'Riding Lessons' by Sara Gruen. This eBook is the perfect crossover novel for teens. They'll be captured by the mystery of who is Hurrah. The first chapter just grabs you, and, for anyone who rides horses, this is an amazing depiction of the relationship between horse and rider. I highly recommend picking up Sara Gruen's other book, 'Water For Elephants', especially if you like this eBook. 'Water For Elephants' has even more maturity in Gruen's writing, but this first book is an amazing accomplishment for a novice writer. I highly recommend 'Riding Lessons'. Enjoy!
'HOWL' by the Bark Editors. The Bark editors are always able to find the best writing on dogs, and they have constructed another winner with this follow up to the much beloved "Dog Is My Co-Pilot". This collection is not so serious and enjoys poking fun at people and their dogs. It does so smartly, and with great wit, if not all out belly laughs. Can't wait for their next collection ... Don't forget to use the Coupon Code at checkout to receive a discount on these two eBook Titles.

Bestselling author Michael Korda's Horse People is the story -- sometimes hilariously funny, sometimes sad and moving, always shrewdly observed -- of a lifetime love affair with horses, and of the bonds that have linked humans with horses for more than ten thousand years. It is filled with intimate portraits of the kind of people, rich or poor, Eastern or Western, famous or humble, whose lives continue to revolve around the horse.
